जब से यह Network शुरू हुआ, तब से प्रति-सप्ताह क़रीब क़रीब एक पत्र भेजा जा रहा है जिसमें आनन्दमार्ग की पुस्तकों में कहाँ क्या गलतियाँ हैं, उसकी सूचना दी जा रही है, जिससे भूल सुधार हो सके | सामान्य अवस्था में देखा जाता है कि अगर कभी किसी ने गलती किया और उसे पता चल गया कि गलती हुई, तो वह गलती दिखानेवाले को धन्यवाद देता है, और चर्याचर्य के अनुसार क्षमा-याचना भी करता है | यह तभी होता है जब किसी से अनजाने में गलती हो गई तब |

और कोई जानबूझकर अगर बदमाशी कर रहा है, उस समय अगर उसकी गलती कोई दिखाएगा, उस अवस्था में वह क्रोधित होकर—गलती दिखानेवाले के ऊपर आक्रमण कर देगा | और, उपस्थित आम व्यक्ति के आँखों में धूल झोंकना चाहेगा कि—कहीं कोई गलती नहीं हुई है | तिलजला Publication के प्रमुख लोग, शास्त्र में गलती दिखानेवाले मार्गियों पर आक्रमण कर रहे हैं | और समस्त मार्गी समुदाय को भ्रमित करने में लगे हैं | यही नहीं, मार्गियों को अन्धकार में रखने के लिए, तिलजला प्रकाशन विभाग, उनके आँख में धूल झोंक रहा है जिससे वे भ्रमित हो जाएँ, और शास्त्र हेराफेरी सम्बन्धी मामले को सिर्फ़ अफ़वाह समझ लें |

1990 से, गत तेईस साल से, ये लोग सत्य को ढकने की नापाक कोशिश करते रहे हैं | लेकिन अब इनके झाँसे में कोई आनेवाले नहीं है | सूर्योदय हो चुका है, परिणाम-स्वरूप उल्लुओं में घबड़ाहट तो होगी ही |

बाबा के शास्त्र में घोटाले से सम्बन्धित निम्नलिखित पत्र में अगर आपको कोई भी शङ्का हो, तो कृपया सम्पर्क करें—और भी प्रमाण दिया जाएगा | अब समय नहीं है, अगर हम सभी मार्गी लोग किसी भी प्रकार के झाँसे में आ गए, तो बाबा का पूरा धर्मशास्त्र हमेशा के लिए अशुद्ध ही रह जाएगा | उस प्रत्यवाय के हम लोग सभी भागी होंगे | इसलिए उस रास्ते पर न जाकर, हमें अपने विवेक से काम लेना है, जिससे बाबा का अशुद्ध शास्त्र शुद्ध किया जा सके |

आदरणीय बहनों और भाइयों,

नमस्कार | 
 

पटना में 14 अक्टूबर 1978 को एक जनरल दर्शन देते समय बाबा कह रहे हैं—मैं सभी मनुष्यों के लिए, वर्त्तमान और आनेवाले भविष्य की समूची मानवता के लिए बोलता हूँ (प्रवचन देता हूँ ) | केवल कुछ लोग जो यहाँ बैठे हैं, मैं सिर्फ़ उनके लिए ही नहीं बोलता हूँ | (१)

बाबा के उपरोक्त वाणी से हम लोग बाबा के प्रवचन का महत्त्व समझ सकते हैं | तारकब्रह्म बाबा का दिया हुआ ज्ञान वर्त्तमान में पृथ्वी ग्रह पर जितने भी आनन्दमार्गी हैं, उन सबों के लिए ही नहीं बल्कि सदा-सदा के लिए सम्पूर्ण विश्वब्रह्माण्ड के समस्त प्राणी हेतु है | महासम्भूति बाबा का प्रवचन वर्त्तमान और भविष्य के मानवता की एक महत्त्वपूर्ण धरोहर है |

धर्म महाचक्र प्रवचन के अन्त में अनुपम, अद्वितीय उपदेश :

पाँच अनुच्छेद मिटा दिया गया

सभी आनन्दमार्गी जानते हैं कि बाबा का धर्म महाचक्र प्रवचन कितना महत्त्वपूर्ण होता है | और मुम्बई धर्म महाचक्र 14 अक्टूबर 1966 का प्रवचन तो बेजोड़ है, अतुलनीय है | (२)

इसमें बाबा मुक्ति और भक्ति के विषय में दुर्लभ ज्ञान प्रदान कर रहे हैं | और इस सम्पूर्ण प्रवचन का निर्णायक सारांश अभिव्यक्त होता है अन्तिम पाँच अनुच्छेदों में, जिसमें बाबा परमपुरुष और उनके भक्त के बीच के लीला की विवेचना कर रहे हैं | जिसमें परमपुरुष मुक्ति प्रदान करना चाहते हैं और भक्त बारम्बार अस्वीकार करता है और आग्रहपूर्वक इस बात पर ज़ोर देता है कि वह केवल परमपुरुष की सेवा करना चाहता है | भक्त और भगवान के बीच प्रेम के इस दिव्य आदान-प्रदानवाले भाग को तिलजला गुट ने प्रवचन से हटा दिया है | (३) तिलजला प्रकाशन ने इस प्रवचन का निर्णायक भाग, सारांश अन्तिम पाँच अनुच्छेदों को पूरी तरह से साफ़-साफ़ काट कर हटा दिया है और प्रवचन के अन्त को उसके मध्य में ही अधूरा छोड़ दिया है |

"तो, गोप जानते हैं कि उनकी दुनिया में वे ख़ुद हैं, और गोप-बन्धु नारायण हैं; कोई तीसरी सत्ता नहीं है | लोग कह सकते हैं कि—"भक्त जो हैं, वे परमात्मा के साथ रहेंगे; उन्हें तो मुक्ति-मोक्ष, तब नहीं मिल सकता है ? बाबा प्रवचन से कुछ अंशों को

हटा देना, मिटा देना क्यों गलत है ?

जैसा कि आप देख सकते हैं कि धर्म महाचक्र प्रवचन के अन्तिम महत्त्वपूर्ण, सारगर्भित भाग को तिलजला AMPS प्रकाशन ने हटा दिया है | और यह तो तिलजला प्रकाशन के द्वारा हटा दिए गए, ग़ायब कर दिए गए पाँच अनुच्छेदों में से केवल पहला दो अनुच्छेद है | ऐसे अनगिनत कारण है जिससे यह साबित होता है कि तिलजला प्रकाशन की यह गलती एक संगीन अपराध है :

1. मन्त्रमूलं गुरूर्वाक्यं | गुरु के श्रीमुख से निकला हर शब्द मन्त्र के समान है | गुरु के मुख से निकले हर एक शब्द के साथ विशेष आदर व श्रद्धाभाव और उनका उपयुक्त संरक्षण आवश्यक है |

2. बाबा प्रवचन का हूबहू शब्दशः लिपिकरण होना चाहिए |

3. यहाँ तक कि जब दूसरे भाषाओं में प्रवचन का अनुवाद किया जाए तो अनुवाद जहाँ तक सम्भव हो वाक्य-दर-वाक्य सुस्पष्ट और अपने मूल संस्करण के समान विश्वसनीय होना चाहिए |

4. कहने की ज़रूरत नहीं कि सभी मूल अनुच्छेद अनुवाद में आवश्यक रूप से शामिल होना चाहिए |

5. अर्थात्‌ आनन्दमार्ग शास्त्र में छोटी-से-छोटी किसी भी तरह का त्रुटि नहीं होना चाहिए |

प्रवचन के उपरोक्त अनुच्छेदों में बाबा आध्यात्मिक आनन्द का जो मोहक, सहज और नैसर्गिक व्याख्या किए हैं, वह दिव्य व अतिविशिष्ट है, जो इसी रूप में कहीं-और मिलना मुश्किल है | वास्तव में धर्ममहाचक्र प्रवचन का समापन भाग हमेशा अतुलनीय व मनोहारी होता है | इसलिए हमारे तिलजला AMPS प्रकाशन ने इस प्रवचन का जो अन्तिम अंश हटा दिया है, वह विशेष रूप से हृदयविदारक है |

धर्ममहाचक्र प्रवचन 46 वर्षों से विकृत :

सुधार की कोई सम्भावना नहीं

बाबा 46 वर्ष पहले 1966 ईसवी में यह धर्ममहाचक्र प्रवचन "मुक्ति और भक्ति" दिए | तिलजला गुट के लोग इसे 46 वर्षों में ठीक नहीं कर पाए, तो उनकी मंशा पर बड़ा प्रश्न-चिन्ह लगता है | यह सवाल खड़ा होता है कि क्या वे कभी भी इस प्रवचन को ठीक करेंगे, क्या वे ठीक करना चाहते भी हैं ?

Namaskar Respected Brothers and Sisters,

While giving a General Darshan in October 1978 in Patna, Bábá said—I speak for everyone, for the entire humanity of today and the future to come. I do not speak merely for those who are sitting before me. (1)

By this we can understand how very important Bábá's teachings are. These teachings of Táraka Brahma are for all the Ánanda Márgiis of today on this planet; yet not only that, they are for all beings throughout the universe, for all time.

Unique Message at End of DMC Discourse

Cut Short By Five Paragraphs

Ánanda Márgiis know how important Bábá's DMC discourses are. And among those, Bábá's DMC discourse in Bombay, 14 October 1966 is again unique. (2) In it He gives rare teachings about mukti and bhakti; and these teachings culminate with an unparalleled final five paragraphs in which Bábá presents a liilá between Parama Puruśa and His bhakta. This unforgettable interchange, in which Parama Puruśa wants to grant mukti to the devotee but the devotee repeatedly refuses, insisting he just wants to remain serving Parama Puruśa—this interchange of love between bhakta and Bhagaván, has been removed from the discourse by Tiljala group. (3) The Tiljala Publishers have removed the final five paragraphs of the discourse, simply cutting it off early and leaving out the culmination of the entire discourse.

So in the Tiljala AMPS publication of this DMC discourse, the final five paragraphs are flat-out missing.

Salvation and Devotion

The gopa knows that in the world he himself is there and Gopa-Bandhu Náráyańa i.e. the Lord Himself is there; there is no third entity. Some people may say, "If devotees live with Paramátmá, then they won't be able to get emancipation and salvation." But, this is not the case. You know, if people unexpectedly get extreme worldly happiness, they lose their common sense for the time being. Viz. If suddenly someone comes to you and informs that you got twenty crore rupees, what will happen? For a few minutes you will behave in an unbalanced way, like a madman. It may be possible that upon receiving such news, an ordinary man may start outright dancing in glee before children! Beside himself with emotion, he will appear to have lost his mind altogether.

Similarly a devotee who due to devotional sádhaná realizes he is always in close proximity to Paramátmá, who realizes, “I am very near to Paramátmá”—in that situation what happens? The devotee experiences extreme bliss and forgets himself. And this very state of having "forgotten himself"—this is mukti-mokśa i.e. salvation. Therefore where there is no devotion, mukti-mokśa is impossible. And where there is devotion, there whether the bhakta likes it or not he will get salvation.

Why It Is Wrong To

Remove Sections of What Bábá Said

As you can see, this is a substantial amount of text which has been removed from the end of this DMC discourse by the Tiljala AMPS Publishers. And this is only the first two of the final five paragraphs, all of which were cut from the published discourse. The reasons this is wrong of them to do are myriad:

1. Guru's word is mantra. It must be treated with great respect and properly preserved.
   
2. Bábá's discourse must be replicated word-for-word as Bábá gave it.
   
3. Even if the discourse is being published in a different language, the translation should be as faithful as possible to the original, maintaining sentence-by-sentence transparency.
   
4. It goes without saying that all the original paragraphs should be included in the translation.
   
5. Failure to conform to the above represents nothing short of distortion of our Ánanda Marga scripture.
   

The charm of Bábá's simple, natural explanation of spiritual bliss in the above passage is very special, not to be found in just this way anywhere else. Indeed, the end of a DMC discourse is always extraordinary, and so our Tiljala AMPS Publishers' removal of this final concluding section represents a particularly poignant distortion. 
 

DMC Discourse Remains Distorted, Unrepaired

for Forty-Six Years

No Sign It Will Ever Be Fixed

This DMC discourse Salvation and Devotion was given by Bábá in 1966, forty-six years ago. There is no excuse for our Tiljala Publishers not having rectified this serious error after so many years. If they haven't fixed this in forty-six years, it raises serious question as to whether they will ever do so.

Ánanda Má́rgiis and Entire World Have Right

To Hear Bábá's Unadulterated Words

What Bábá speaks, He speaks for the whole world. All Ánanda Márgiis and all human beings have the right to hear His message, to read it and to know it—word-for-word, just as He said it. It is a great sin of the Tiljala Publications Department to change and distort what Bábá has said: The end effect is that Ánanda Márgiis and indeed the World at large is deprived of knowing what Táraka Brahma Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji has told them.

H and EC Groups Equally At Fault As Tiljala Group

It is regrettable that H and EC groups have no interest in Bábá's discourses, otherwise they would have become active in publishing them from the original sound track instead of merely reprinting the books which the Tiljala group publishes. The distortions introduced by Tiljala group in their publications of Bábá's discourses are errors of commissional in nature. But let none make the mistake of thinking that H and EC groups are innocent here; by their failure to take interest in publishing Bábá's original discourses, they demonstrate a lethargy toward Bábá's shástra which is highly condemnable. H and EC groups' failure to publish Bábá's original discourses is a failure of omission. The omissional error of H and EC is every bit as serious as the commissional errors of Tiljala group.

Baba's Message on Scripture

Bábá says, “In the realm of dharma, the only true guide and controller, motivating force and protector of the people, is an excellent and comprehensive ideology which provides definite, clear-cut and bold directions for all aspects of human life – from one's personal daily routine, to one's social activities and collective motivation, to the spiritual inspiration which brings one closer and closer to God. A scripture which does not fulfill these conditions is not worthy of being called a scripture at all. Such a scripture does not contain the light of consciousness according to the definition Shásanát tárayet yastu sah shástrah parikiirttitah [“That which liberates through discipline is called shástra, scripture”]. We should also remember that in the realm of dharma there must be clear-cut injunctions in the form of dharma shástra [scriptural treatises]. (Shiva's Teachings – 2, NSS Discourse #14)

We make a special request for volunteers to help in this work of producing and reviewing the “as is” discourses. Fix Bábá's Discourses Now or Never

If we remain passive onlookers and do not fix the negative trends of introducing distortion into Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji's discourses and do not bring the printed discourses up to the proper standard now, it will become impossible to change this in the future. And even if in future some sincere Ánanda Márgiis will try, they will be treated as enemies. Because this is the way religion works. Today one cannot teach the devotees of Lord Krśńa that He has nothing to do with cows; they will never believe it. In the same way, Ánanda Márgiis will become used to the wrong teachings in our AM books and they will not like to give them up. They will think that whatever was there at the end of the twentieth century, that was the gold standard for all time. And it should be kept and maintained. So we don't have any time: it is either now or never. The clock is ticking: If we do not get Bábá's discourses fixed now, it will be impossible to do so later. And that will cause bloodshed and more division on the basis of the various versions of Bábá's teachings and their explanations. History bears testimony to this, that all the religions have similarly broken into multiple factions, groups and subgroups on the basis of differences in scripture interpretations. Bábá wanted to eliminate such problems, and that is why Bábá's discourses are recorded. But unfortunately, those recordings are not being published properly. This matter is very serious.

Question—By raising the matter of scriptural distortion before all Márgiis, nothing will get done. Why point out the matter publicly? Just politely inform the Tiljala Publishers about the places where there are mistakes in discourses, and they will fix them.

Bábá's Guideline for Solving Problems in the Society

If any problem arises in the society, Bábá has given a stepwise approach for getting it solved. One should first raise the matter in a quiet fashion to the concerned party, according to the channels created for the purpose. In this regard, Bábá guides that one is to follow the established pathways, and patiently await results. If after moving in accordance with the system one finds that the system is not working, then one should gently and calmly raise the matter to the relevant authorities and make them aware that something needs to be done. If even then there is no meaningful response, then only the next step is to begin to take other measures. The society or organization may have means for redress such as a court or justice system. If that is followed and yields no result, then only as a last resort, the next step is to make the citizenry aware and bring public pressure and ultimately public outcry to bear on the matter. This is Bábá's system, and He has taught about this in many PROUT discourses.

History of the Scripture Issue in AMPS

In order to fully understand the Scripture Issue in our AMPS, one needs to know the history of how the above process was applied and followed. The time-line and sequence of events is presented below so as to give an overall view. In subsequent postings on this theme, great detail will be provided as to the history of efforts to get rectified the innumerable distortions in the published discourses of Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji.

1. The following are among the chief concerns held by Ánanda Márgiis:
   
   a) The dadas running the Tiljala Publications dept have been propagating the false notion since 1990, that the official original version of each and every discourse should be in Bengali regardless of what language Bábá actually used in the discourse. So if the discourse was given by Bábá wholly in English or Hindi, even then Publications Dept dadas translate it into Bengali and from there again into English and Hindi for publishing. In this way Bábá’s original words are lost.
   
   b) Many, many discourses have been written down in mere summary form, often tiny in size compared to the original discourse.
   
   c) There are countless distortions in the discourses when compared with the original sound tracks. These consist of wrongly written words and sentences— words and sentences which are different from what Bábá said.
   
   d) Of the above-mentioned distortions in (c), many represent frank ideological errors i.e. go against Bábá's very teachings themselves. In such cases where distortions go directly against Bábá's teachings, they become all the more serious.
   
2. Starting in 1990, matters relating to the inordinate number of serious distortions in our Ánanda Marga Scripture were brought to the attention of the Tiljala Publishers. Tiljala Publishers' reply was that the approach being taken in publishing Bábá's discourses is intentional and represents the expressed verbal wishes of Bábá.
   
3. In those days after 1990 the organization was still one, and those in authority had the power to take very decisive action. They took strong actions against any and all who expressed their concern about distortions in Bábá's scripture. These reprehensible actions taken by highly posted dadas are outlined below, and will be given in greater detail as well in subsequent postings.
   

Appropriate Channels Followed by Ánanda Márgiis

In the early years after 1990 many Ánanda Márgiis expressed their concern that distortions in the published discourses be fixed without delay. These matters were brought to the attention of authorities in the organization in accordance with the approved channels. Starting in 1990, and many times— but to no avail. 
 

Organizational Authorities Lash Out

Against Ánanda Márgiis

Not only was the scriptural issue not addressed in a positive way by organizational authorities, they lashed out strongly to squelch, repress, and erase any efforts to raise the matter. Actions were taken not only against the Márgiis' voice, but against the Márgiis themselves. Dadas in positions of authority those days were ruthless in their intent to repress the voice of Márgiis, and even to harm Ánanda Márgiis physically. Here below is a brief outline of some of the main activities which were carried out by dadas in positions of power those days after 1990, in response to Ánanda Márgiis raising the scriptural distortion issue:

• Márgiis holding post such as BP etc who spoke out, were removed from their post.
  
• Márgiis sitting on the ACB who spoke out were removed from the ACB.
  
• All Márgiis who had lodged complaints about scriptural distortion were warned to desist or actions would be taken against them.
  
• Those who persisted in raising the matter of scriptural distortion were victimized and black-listed; several were expelled from the organization.
  
• It was announced throughout the organization that those raising the matter of scriptural distortion were going against Bábá. Such Márgiis would not be permitted to have marriages in the organization, and organizational service such as pracar, AMURT work etc, would not be accepted from them.
  
• Those who had at any time raised concern about the integrity of the printed books, were forced to sit in closed door as well as public meetings and roundly dressed down.
  
• At all meetings from bhukti to regional level throughout the organization, such Márgiis' names were announced and condemned. Widespread pracar was carried out to defame them. They were termed as enemies of AMPS, as communists trying to infiltrate and destroy the organization.
  
• Regarding Márgiis raising concerns about scripture, false stories were spread during meetings and seminars, to befool simple Márgiis. And simple Márgiis got befooled also, for some time.
  
• In this way such Márgiis were treated by organizational authorities initially as outcasts, and ultimately expelled.
  
• For an Ánanda Márgii, such treatment is worse than police brutality. This Ánanda Márga organization and Ánanda Márga family, organizational life is everything for Ánanda Márgiis; bereft of this their entire world was stolen.
  
• Some Márgiis were attacked physically, and there were cases of death.
  
• Márgiis raising their voice against scriptural distortion were treated as enemies of the organization, harassed, terrorized, attacked, and tried to kidnap. One wt opposing scriptural distortion was harassed so much he committed suicide.
  

Márgiis' Long Struggle For Guru's True Discourses

Ánanda Márgiis had to struggle a lot in those days in the years after 1990, in efforts to get the true discourses of Táraka Brahma. Those in positions of authority did everything in their power to ensure Márgiis remained repressed and in fear of brutal retribution. For Márgiis pointing out the need for Bábá's true discourses, it was difficult to survive. 
 

Highly Posted Dadas' Opposed Fixing Published Discourses

Question arises as to why dadas objected so and took such strong action against Márgiis who were raising this issue of scriptural distortion. Actually, the vast majority of dadas and didis in the organization wanted to see the discourses fixed. But there is a small handful of very highly posted dadas who due to their narrow groupist feeling created long-range plans to change Ánanda Marga scripture so as to support their groupist agenda.

There are more details about how organizational authorities lashed out against Ánanda Márgiis, and what long-term plan they had and still have for altering Bábá's discourses to suit their own narrow group interests. These details, along with the full answer to the question of why the scripture issue needed to be presented before all Ánanda Márgiis, will be given in full form in part B of this letter. Yet the seed of the answer is with you now: When approved channels of redress are not working, Bábá says that something more needs to be done. And in His Prout discourses, Bábá teaches that that “something more” means involving the general society in solving the problem. This is the final solution when all others fail: when governmental and institutional bodies fail, power rests with the common people to demand a solution.

Message Must Preserved As Given By Him

Táraka Brahma Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji came to this dusty earth and gave all the teachings needed for the establishment of dharma. He has given these teachings in the form of discourses. And so these discourses are a priceless jewel for all the living and nonliving beings of the universe. And yet tragically, the forms of these discourses published in our Ánanda Marga books today—when compared to the true discourses as Bábá spoke them—are seen to be extremely distorted. Fixing the published versions of Bábá's discourses and getting them into “As Is” condition is critical to the protection and propagation of dharma on this planet. 
 

Márgiis' Queries: How to Get Bábá's Discourses Fixed

“It is important to fix the published discourses so they are just as Bábá spoke them”—this every Ánanda Márgii will support wholeheartedly. We do sometimes receive email from Márgiis asking about the best ways to achieve this common goal. So that we may all think together on these questions, replies are being published in a series on this network. The above is the second such response to a question that some have asked.
