Discourse distortion: another Hindu dogma in AM book

Namaskar,

Please pay attention to the following quote - and in particular the yellow highlighted section. Here Sadguru Baba guides that Lord Shiva was of a white complexion.

“In those days the Aryans were fair-complexioned, the non-Aryans dark-complexioned, and the Mongolians yellow-complexioned. But Shiva was white-complexioned. His immense purity of mind was in perfect harmony with His white complexion. Regarding His complexion it has been stated kundendu-hima-shaunkha shubhra – that is, Shiva is as white as a kunda flower… as the lovely moon… as the glittering snow… as a conch shell. Hence the epithet shubhra kalevara [“one with a white-complexioned body”]. (1)

By the above guideline - see highlighted yellow section -  it is evident that according to Ananda Marga philosophy, Lord Shiva was of white complexion.

See how they wrongly depicted Lord Shiva

Yet see here below what the publishers have done. They have printed the book - Namah Shiváya Shántáya ‘95 Edn (E) - and on the cover presented an image of  Lord Shiva. Check your own edition - and look at the scan of the cover of the NSS book below: Lord Shiva is depicted with blue skin. But that is wrong according to Baba’s above teaching - highlighted in yellow.

So see the above scan - i.e. Lord Shiva’s picture. The publishers printed the book - Namah Shiváya Shántáya ‘95 Edn (E) - and on the cover presented an image of Lord Shiva. Look at the above scan of the cover of the NSS book: Lord Shiva is depicted according to the Hindu dogma of having blue skin. But that is wrong - see Baba’s above teaching - highlighted in yellow.

Giving way to the ritualism of Hindu dogma

Just as a reminder, the Ananda Marga "Namah Shiváya Shántáya" (NSS) book is one of the foundational texts of our philosophy. So this book has tremendous importance.

In view of this, it is shocking and unfortunate that the cover of the printed book NSS has for many years been an ideological blunder. They have given way to the ritualism of Hindu dogma and presented Lord Shiva’s skin in Hindu colour - contrary to Guru’s guideline in His NSS book (please refer to above yellow highlighted sections).

Dogmatic Hindu Depiction of Lord Shiva Is Used

Remember, the cover of a book is a representation of what it contains: A cookbook will present food on the cover; a book on ecology will have nature scenes on the cover. In this way, our book on Lord Shiva should offer a proper picture of Lord Shiva. But it is so unfortunate that a dogmatic Hindu coloured image of Lord Shiva was used on our AM book, which is directly opposite of Sadguru Baba’s teaching.

So we must not publish a book which portrays Lord Shiva’s skin in a dogmatic Hindu colour. Readers anticipate that the book cover is a representation of what the book contains: If the cover is dogmatic, then readers expect that the contents will also be dogmatic. So it goes completely against Ananda Marga ideology to print such a dogmatic photo which is 100% opposite of the teachings of Ananda Marga philosophy. See Baba’s above teaching - highlighted in yellow.

Recurring blunder: Due to Dogmatic Hindu mind-set

The NSS English version (1995) was the first to be printed with this dogmatic photo. When it came out, márgiis protested and opposed the dogmatic depiction of Lord Shiva. But the Tiljala Publishers ignored márgiis' concerns, and went on to print the NSS Hindi (1996) and NSS Bengali (2000) books with the same dogmatic depiction of Lord Shiva on the cover, showing Him with blue skin, i.e. Hindu colour.

So this is a very serious matter. An adhármic distortion of Lord Shiva's image has been printed on our Ananda Marga Publications NSS book cover, and it is brought to the attention of our Tiljala Publishers. But even then they have not cared enough to rectify the matter. Even if they could not reprint the English edition, but the matter was brought up prior to the Hindi and Bengali editions. So the book cover could easily have been corrected for those editions. Our Tiljala Publications' failure to make these above corrections is indicative of an apathetic and brazen attitude which is wholly inappropriate for publishers of our dharma shastra.

Two worst things ruin Author’s philosophical teachings

#1: Spoil that chapter or book by making it self-contradictory or aligning it with dogma;

#2: When due to sloppiness such a problem exists, readers will think the author does not know the subject matter.

These fatal flaws in our Ananda Marga literature are the direct result of the sloppiness and carelessness of Tiljala publications Dept. They are inexcusable. By these blunders, non-margii readers will not have great respect for the author - Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji.

Namaskar,
at His lotus feet,
Surabhi Mukherji

Note 1: Where to find dogmatic Hindu Lord Shiva images

Here is how to find a dogmatic Hindu depiction of Lord Shiva. Open your web browser and type in “Lord Shiva” in quotes in the search box. Then click on the tab for images. Then you will see all kinds of Hindu dogmatic websites projecting the image of Lord Shiva in this Hindu way. And our Tiljala publishers used that style of  dogmatic Hindu photo for the book cover. Those publishers did not abide by the teachings given by Baba in Ananda Marga philosophy. See Baba’s above teaching - highlighted in yellow.

Baba

Discourse distortion: Hindu dogma in AM book

Namaskar,
Please pay attention to the following two quotes - one highlighted in yellow and one in green. These quotes are from our Ananda Marga books, but, unfortunately, the yellow quote contradicts the green quote, and vice-versa.

According to Ananda Marga philosophy there are three worlds / lokas. These three lokas are purely of the mind; they are not something external.

In contrast, Hindu mythology preaches the existence of three other worlds: heaven, earth, and the underworld. Hindu believers hold that humans live on earth; devatas (gods) live in space, and demons live beneath the the bottom of the ocean in the underworld.

Our Ananda Marga philosophy does not accept this Hindu mythological dogma. But our Tiljala publishers have placed this exact Hindu dogma in our Ananda Marga books.

The overall idea of the yellow quote is that the three worlds of triloka are: heaven, earth, and the underworld. This is the gross error that has been made. See for yourself by reading the below yellow line.

QUOTE #1: Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The weapon which pierces sinners from three sides is called trishúla. In Shiva’s hand there was a trishúla (so He is called shúlapáńi) to strike terror in the hearts of the sinners so that they might desist from their sins and be forced to let honest people live in peace. And to control the sinners and bind them in tight bondages, Shiva held in His hand a lathi [staff] and a rope. He is controlling the psychic realm which sustains and nourishes the entire life-flow of heaven, earth and underworld – so He is called Triloka-nátha [the Lord of the Three Worlds]. And in this quinquelemental world, He clearly understands the nature and behaviour of each and every entity, so He is called Bhútanátha [the Lord of All Created Beings]." (1)

That concludes the yellow quote; now see the green quote.

The overall idea of the green quote is that the mind has three chambers (a) conscious, (b) subconscious, and (c) causal / unconscious. The Sanskrit word for three is “tri.” When the three minds are combined then it is known as triloka. This is the overall idea of the quote highlighted below in green.

QUOTE #2: Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Causal mind means mind in seed form, subconscious mind [subtle mind] means mind in sprout form, and conscious mind [crude mind] means mind in fully expressed form. In causal mind also there are possibilities of vibration. Causal mind is a part of mind but turiiya [a stage of purely spiritual realization] is not a part of mind. The combined name of these three states of cosmic mind – causal, subconscious and conscious – is triloka."(2)

That concludes the green quote. Now see the conclusion.

Conclusion

[A] The quote - highlighted above in yellow - says that triloka means: (a) heaven, (b) earth, and (c)  underworld.  Unfortunately they accepted and adhered to Hindu dogma. This is not our Ananda Marga ideal.

[B] The quote - highlighted above in green - says that triloka means: (a) conscious mind, (b) subconscious mind , and (c) causal / unconscious mind. This is correct meaning according to Ananda Marga philosophy.

[C] Hence, the above yellow and green quotes contradict each other. The yellow one preaches the ways of Hindu dogma and the green quote adheres to the dharma of Ananda Marga.

Every margii knows that Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji never speaks anything that is contradictory.

Bear in mind, our Ananda Marga books are sold openly in the public market; when non-margiis read this blunder they will not have great respect for Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. That is unfortunate and disastrous.

Note 2: If you do not have the book or discourse...

If you do not have this book or discourses related with this topic then kindly write us and we will provide the related chapter(s) to you.  Also, if any aspect of this topic is unclear, then please write us.

Note 3: No such thing as underworld

In Ananda Marga teaching do not support the existence of any type of underworld, i.e. a land or place that is under the bottom of the ocean. There may be some coal mines or other anthropological digging sites. But one cannot say that those places are the second loka.

If in your mind there is any doubt about the meaning of triloka, then please read Guru’s below teachings. Then any confusion will vanish.

“Now, what's the meaning of triloka, tribhuvana ? You have got a physical body made of so many elements, so many compounds. And we say it is [the] quinquelemental universe, composed of five fundamental factors...”

“And you exist in this realm of physicalities. This is one bhuvana. And, the subtler portion of the physical structure of living beings, when that subtler portion gets powdered down, is metamorphosed into ectoplasm, it becomes the mind. You have got a mind. And as all of you know, you are not the mind. You are the owner of the mind. So, your second existence is the mental world. Second world…”

“Your "I" is concentrated round your ego. And that pinnacled ego touches the astral stratum. So, that astral stratum is the third world. One physical world, another mental world, and another that subtle astral world. So, there are three worlds.”  (3)

Baba

Another blunder: contradictory pages

Namaskar,
Please pay attention to the following two quotes - one highlighted in yellow and one in green. These quotes are from our AM books, but, unfortunately, the yellow quote contradicts the green quote, and vice-versa.

The overall idea of the yellow quote is that a volcanic eruption occurred in the Ananda Nagar region nearly 1 million years ago and the lava and debris created mass destruction in the local area. The villagers were terrified by this catastrophe and could not understand why this happened. So they concluded that goddess Candii is furious. So she is burning us with fire. This is the overall idea of the quote highlighted below in yellow.

QUOTE #1: Ananda Marga philosophy says, “About 900,000 to one million years ago, the top of the Dimdiha Hill, near Anandanagar, was blown off by a volcanic eruption. The debris fell within a radius of about two miles, killing all of the people and animals living there. Due to the abrupt change in temperature, they were fossilized. Uneducated people called this explosion the work of the goddess Candii. This kind of [[volcanic]] eruption is called “jvala-mukhi” in Saḿskrta.” (1)

That concludes yellow quote; now see the green quote.

The overall idea of the green quote is that goddess Candii is a mythological figure that came into existence around 1300 to 1400 years ago. So goddess Candii is a very recent creation. Before 1400 years ago, nobody even knew of the name goddess Candii because the Candii goddess did not even exist.  This is the overall idea of the quote highlighted below in green.

QUOTE #2: Ananda Marga philosophy says, “The worship of the goddess Durgá is based mainly on the Márkańd́eya Puráńa, and to a lesser extent on the Devii Puráńa, the Káliká Puráńa, the Brhatnandikeshavara Puráńa, the Duragábhaktitaraunginii, the Deviibhágavat, etc. None of these books is older than 1300 or 1400 years. Seven hundred shlokas [couplets] were collected from those books and gathered together, and that constituted the abridged Márkańd́eya Puráńa, which is also known as Durgásaptashatii, or more colloquially, Shrii Shrii Cańd́ii. None of these works existed at the time of Shiva.” (2)

That concludes the green quote. Now see the conclusion.

Conclusion

[A]  The quote - highlighted above in yellow - projects the idea that 1 million years ago terrified villagers of the Ananda Nagar region attributed the volcanic eruption and destruction to goddess Candii.

[B] The quote - highlighted above in green - projects the idea that goddess Candii came into existence only 1400 years ago.

[C] Hence, the above yellow and green quotes are contradicting each other. The yellow quote claims that goddess Candii is at least 1 million years old and the green quote claims that goddess Candii is no more than 1400 years old. This is a huge difference - the gap is 998,600 years - at minimum. So unfortunately, the yellow quote contradicts the green quote, and vice-versa.

That is unfortunate and pathetic.

Contradiction: Distortion in tandava discourse - Which hand what

Contradiction: Distortion in tandava discourse -

Which hand what

Namaskar,
Baba never tells anything that is self-contradictory. Unfortunately the Tiljala Publications Dept made a  serious blunder in our Ananda Marga books. They printed two paragraphs that are completely inconsistent with one another.

Specifically, with regards to our tandava dance, those publishers have printed contradictory statements in two different chapters of two different books.

Request #1:

First look at quote #1 (highlighted below in yellow): They wrote the skull and dambaru are held by the tandava dancer in opposite hands.

Request #2:

Next look at quote #2 (highlighted below in green): They wrote that the skull and dambaru are held by the tandava dancer in the same hand.

Here is how Tiljala Publications published quote #1:

Quote #1: "What are the things that find a place in the dancer’s hands? The dancer, may, for instance, hold a human skull in the left hand and a dagger in the right hand. Or in the daytime one may, if one wishes, hold a snake in the left hand. [At night] one may hold a d́ambaru [a small drum shaped like an hourgzlass] or a mashál [torch] in the right hand. One can recognize everything by the light of a torch and can understand by the sound of a drum. Otherwise at night, neither a skull nor a snake can be recognized. In the left hand, there is the symbol of destruction and death." (1)

Here is how Tiljala Publications published quote #2:

Quote #2: "Ta'n'd'ava is a heroic dance, showing the fight between life and death. The knife represents life, represents your vital stamina, and the skull represents the death that wants to destroy you. You are fighting against death with your weapon, be it a knife or a trishula (trident). And as per the rule, during the day, if one so desires, one may use a live snake in place of the skull; and at night one may use a fire masha'la [torch] or a d'ambaru [small drum]. This is the rule. So ta'n'd'ava represents the eternal fight, the fight for survival, the fight to maintain existence, the fight to establish oneself as a man in this world." (2)

The contradiction in these above two paragraphs spoiled the topic and made the subject matter unintelligible for any sincere reader.

The two worst things to ruin a book

Here are the two worst things anyone can do to any chapter or book:
#1: Spoil that chapter or book by making it self-contradictory;
#2: Ruin any chapter or book in the name of the author whereby the author is viewed as unintelligent.
Tragically, both of these fatal flaws were injected by Tiljala Publications with regards to Sadguru Baba’s above guidelines on tandava.

Namaskar In Him,
Tribhuvan

Note 1: If not clear please read again
If for any reason this topic is not clear to you then please go back to the main part of the letter and re-read "Request #1" & "Request #2”, and follow accordingly by reviewing the above yellow and green paragraphs.

Note 2: Two more contradictions

Not only that, those same publishers issued two more contradictory things about tandava ih those same above two quotes.

In quote #1 (highlighted above in yellow): They wrote the skull and torch are held by the tandava dancer in opposite hands.

In quote #2 (highlighted above in green): They wrote that the skull and torch are held by the tandava dancer in the same hand.

Note 3: D́ambaru musical instrument

Here below is a picture of the dambaru which is a small drum commonly used by dancers in India. Those for other countries may not be familiar with it, so this photo has been appended.

Discourse scarred: "broad" changed to "odd"

Discourse scarred:

"broad" changed to "odd"

Namaskar,
On 18 July 1979 in Visakhapatnam, at morning general darshan, Sadguru Baba delivered a discourse that was printed in Ánanda Vacanámrtam part 13, English Edn (2011) as  “Significance of Yoga.” It is chapter 19 and starts on page 123.

What Baba actually spoke

Now let us see what Sadguru Baba actually spoke that day.

“There are fifty broad propensities. And actually, more than one thousand sub-propensities.”

Our Tiljala Publishers wrote odd instead of broad

See below what our Tiljala publishers printed in book. In particular please pay attention to the term highlighted in red: odd. Because those publishers "odd" instead of "broad."

The publishers wrote:

“There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty odd propensities, and actually, more than one thousand sub-propensities.”

Sadguru Baba actually spoke:

“There are fifty broad propensities. And actually, more than one thousand sub-propensities.”

Here is how our Tiljala publishers printed it in the book, Ananda Vacanamrtam part 13.

“There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty odd propensities, and actually, more than one thousand sub-propensities.”

What they published was wrong

So in the book they changed  term "broad" to "odd." Yet these two terms do not convey the same idea and Guru’s original words should not be changed. So what they did was wrong.

Thus the publishers are writing that Baba says that all 50 human propensities are odd.

And remember, all this was done in the name of Baba, Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji - as the publishers printed this book in His name.

Here for your review is what our Tiljala Publishers wrote:

“The citta, the mind stuff, the mind of human beings, has got so many propensities, so many vrttis, it moves here there, there and there. There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty odd propensities.”

And here is what Baba actually spoke:

“The citta, the mind stuff, the mind of a human being, it has got so many propensities, so many vrttis. It moves here and there, here and there. There are fifty broad propensities.”

Note: You may have remarked that there are numerous words that are not the same - but we ignored these points and focused exclusively on how they changed the term broad to odd. Because that is the main blunder. At the same time no one should think that all these other word changes are typos. It is not like that. The above line in yellow is exactly what Guru spoke. And those Tiljala publishers made various changes in addition to their main blunder.

The following scan from Ánanda Vacanámrtam part 13 (2011) shows how our Tiljala publishers wrongly printed the discourse. See how they erred and inserted the word “odd” - underlined in red below. They wrote "odd" instead of "broad.”

The above scan from Ánanda Vacanámrtam part 13 (2011) shows how our Tiljala publishers wrongly printed the discourse. See how they wrongly inserted the word “odd” - underlined in red above. They wrote "odd" instead of "broad.”

Conclusion: broad - not odd

Verily the term Baba actually spoke was broad - not odd. The term broad reflects Baba’s guideline that there is a range of 50 propensities.

But the publishers utterly missed this idea and instead published the word ”odd” - instead of ”broad” -  which carries an entirely different meaning.

It is sad that those in charge of printing and publishing Guru’s divine discourses are making such egregious errors. Any true disciple of Baba will easily understand that Guru never describes the human propensities as being “odd.” For example there are propensities that goad human beings towards Parama Purusa, encourage devotion and love and affection for the entire creation - i.e. neo-humanism. How can one say that such propensities are odd. This goes against the fundamentals of Ananda Marga.

For example here are some propensities that are very essential for spiritual life: (a)  dharma [psycho-spiritual longing], (b) mokśa [spiritual longing], (c) áshá [hope], (d) ceśt́á [endeavour], (e) mamatá [mine-ness, love], (f) anutápa [repentance], (g) oṋm [acoustic root of creation, preservation, dissolution], (h) phat́ [practication, i.e., putting a theory into practice)], (i) vaśat́ [welfare in the subtler sphere], (j) namah [surrender to the Supreme], and (k) amrta [sweet expression], pará [spiritual knowledge]. Who can claim that such propensities are odd. No one - as these propensities are vital for any sadhaka to gain success.

Yet it never occurred to the publishers that what they printed was wrong and misleading. They could not recognise that they were misrepresenting Guru by writing “fifty odd propensities.” That is why the situation is sad. They are printing and publishing Baba’s books but they have no idea what they are doing. That is why they are prone to making gross errors in the name of Sadguru Baba.

In Him,
R. Naidu

Note 1: Who was involved

The discourse, “Significance of Yoga”, Ánanda Vacanámrtam part 13, English Edn (2011) ch 19, pg 123, was published by Ac Sugatananda Avt and he was also the one who worked on re-edting and re-transcribing this discourse.

Note 2: If the subject is not clear please read below

Tiljala publisher wrote "odd" instead of "broad." So it got ruined.

To provide some context, some synonyms of the word odd are: strange, peculiar, weird, queer, funny, bizarre, abnormal, eccentric, unusual, unconventional, outlandish, quirky, zany.

Hence, what the publishers printed may be interpreted by readers as:

There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty outlandish propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty eccentric propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty bizarre propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty quirky propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty weird propensities.

There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty strange propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty queer propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty funny propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty abnormal propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty unusual propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty unconventional propensities.
There are fifty, not only fifty, fifty zany propensities.

These are the 13 or more ways that typical readers may interpret the word odd and apply that to the published statement.

Baba

Look AV-33 obvious blunder, book ruined

Namaskar,
As every Ananda Margii knows, Sadguru Baba’s discourses are rational and logical in all respects. There is no confusion, ambiguity, or contradiction in His divine teachings. Unfortunately, Tiljala Publications is not always able to maintain this standard when printing the books. See here this blunder they committed.

In the discourse “Brahma Cakra”, Ananda Vacanamrtam - 33, page 7, the publishers started the paragraph like this:

"But where there is no movement, we say those items moving round that Nucleus...”

Please pay attention to the first eleven words: "But where there is no movement, we say those items moving."

The sentence is grossly contradictory.

Here it is again for your review: "But where there is no movement, we say those items moving round that Nucleus..."

As you can see, the sentence is wholly self-contradictory.

What those publishers wrote is ridiculous. First they claim that “there is no movement”, and then they claim that those very stationary "items [are] moving.” The statement is grossly contradictory. Things that are stationary do not move, yet they say those stationary items are moving. Any primary school student will see that this sentence is contradictory. One need not know the whole of Ananda Marga ideology to recognise this.

Here again is their sentence for your review:

“But where there is no movement, we say those items moving
round that Nucleus are passing through the realm of time, space and person; but the Nucleus doesn’t pass through time, space and person.”

For your easy reference, the below scan shows their gross error. See the portion underlined in red:

I think everyone can understand this obvious point - if not re-read this letter or write us with your query.

Summary: The discourse “Brahma Cakra”, Ananda Vacanamrtam - 33, was given by Bábá in English, in Salem (Tamil Nadu, India). But Tiljala Publications could not properly transcribe the discourse. That is why there are contradictory sentences in the printed discourse.

The purpose of this letter is to make Bábá's printed discourses authentic and dogma-free. This is not about any group conflict etc; this is an issue of authenticity. The duty of every disciple of Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji is to keep watch on the purity of Guru's printed books.

Distorted scripture is the cause of division

proper scripture is the cause of unity

In the religions of the world, long after, sometimes hundreds of years after a seer or sage—Christ, Buddha, Mohammed—left the world, their followers wrote down what they thought He said. And there was disagreement about it, which only multiplied and caused division into sects. Bábá's shástra is different from that of the religions of the world because He has Himself dictated it. And yet despite this, the same schisms as happened in the religions, will go on escalating in Ánanda Márga as well if we do not clean our shástra.

Division into sects has happened with every religious and spiritual movement in the history of humanity. The difference in Ánanda Márga is that Bábá is Táraka Brahma and He has dictated His own scripture. But that has to be protected from distortion or it will lose its functional value. It is the duty of Ánanda Márgiis throughout the world to see to it that our Ánanda Márga shástra remains intact, pure, flawless. It is the cause of our unity for ages to come.

Namaskar,
at His lotus feet,

We make a special request for volunteers to help in this work of producing and reviewing the “As Is” discourses. Márgii volunteers are needed from all countries around the world, to help with translating the “As Is” discourses into the various languages, and also to help with translating postings about distortions so that all Márgiis around the world can be made aware. Comparing the “As Is” discourses to the discourses published by our AMPS is a big job, and help here is also needed. We welcome a hand from any and all who are inspired and interested to serve in the protection of the discourses of Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji.

Title Deformed in Bangla SS - Bengalization of DMC Discourse

“Artha o Paramártha” Deformed To "Ápekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa"

Note: First please download the sound file so you can best understand this letter - a link to the sound file has been appended below in Note 2.

Very Important: Those who cannot understand Bengali and Hindi, be sure to scroll down to see the photo at the very bottom.

Namaskar,
Sadguru Baba originally titled one of His DMC discourses as "Artha o Paramártha.” But that title was grossly changed by those in Tiljala Publications.

Specifically, on the 5th of February 1984, DMC was held in Allahabad. Baba spoke in Hindi and declared the subject of discourse: "Artha aor Paramártha”. But later on, at the time of printing the Bengali version, SS-16-chap 10, those at the helm changed the discourse title from "Artha o Paramártha” to "Ápekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa." And they printed it in Subháśita Saḿgraha part 16 (Bangla), chapter 10. That is how they printed the Bengali version and manipulated the name of the discourse. Remember, Baba’s original title was, "Artha o Paramártha”.

It is obvious that the title originally given by Baba and the title selected by those Dadas are not the same. Guru told something and those Publication in-charges did not follow what Baba spoke. Instead they invented their own title that bears no resemblance or meaning to what actually Guru gave as the title.

See Here How They Printed The Title In Bengali

Here below is how Tiljala Publications wrongly printed the title in Bengali: "Ápekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa", i.e. “আপেক্ষিক তত্ত্ব ও পরম পুরুষ” .  And that is what is featured in the below scan: The top line in bold, bigger font is how they wrote the title in Bengali font / script. But that is not matching what Baba spoke. It should have been “অর্থ ও পরমার্থ”.  You can confirm this by listening to the sound file - see link below in note 1.

Again, above is how Tiljala Publications printed the title in Bengali: "Ápekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa". The top line in bold, bigger font in the above image is how they wrote the title in Bengali font / script.

How The Title Of The DMC Discourse Distorted

So Baba's approved title for this particular DMC discourse given in Allahabad on the 5th of February 1984 was "Artha aor Paramártha". That is what He announced at the time of DMC for the Hindi edition.

But while printing the Bangla edition of SS-16, the publishers discarded Guru's designated title and instead selected their own title "A’pekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa". So Baba's original approved title was entirely disregarded. It should have been: “অর্থ ও পরমার্থ.

By this way, degeneration after degeneration happened, one after another step.

A Matter of Authenticity - Not Language

All should be aware that this is not a language issue but a matter of the authenticity of Guru's discourses. Because of distortions due to Bengalization etc, Guru's original words are not getting the place in His published discourses. Thus when any sadhaka reads a discourse they are not actually reading Guru's words - they are reading something else. The words of those in Publications etc. This is the very serious point at hand. What is at stake then is the authenticity of Guru's divine discourses. So there is no question of this being any type of linguistic or language issue. What Sadguru Baba spoke that should be printed in As-is form. Then the published discourses will be of value - not misleading. That is the sole issue.

With this particular discourse, because Baba's original title - "Artha aor Paramártha" - given in Hindi was changed  to "A’pekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa" in Bengali. It should have been: “অর্থ ও পরমার্থ. And when those at the helm treat the Bengali as the original, then whenever this book is printed in any other language it will be wrong. The English edition will fail to represent Guru's words - and editions published in other languages will meet the same fate as well. That is why this is a point of authenticity and the correct presentation of Sadguru Baba's discourse.

Baba's System: Making Title Of Discourse

We all know that "Mantramúlaḿ Gururvákyam". Guru's word is mantra and Baba's each and every teaching has been classified according to His guideline. Some of the most important discourses on spiritual philosophy are given at the time of DMC. And in Dharma Maha Cakra (DMC) discourses, Baba always announces the subject of discourse. When Baba gives DMC discourses in Hindi, then He says "Á'j ká álocy viśay hai....”. And when Baba speaks in English, then always He says, "Today's subject of discourse is...". And if Bangla He will say, "Ájker álocy viśaya..."

His System For Titling Those DMC Discourses

A similar process exists with the RU discourses, which Baba would usually give just one day prior to DMC. As stated, the DMC discourses are topmost in the spiritual scripture. And on social points, the RU discourses are very valuable.

So these are two varieties of discourses wherein He would state the title when giving the discourse. So when the books are printed, the headings which Baba has given are printed as the discourse title in the book.

Hence, with the DMC and RU discourses, there is no option to change the titles of the discourse when publishing them in book form. In particular this applies to the RU and DMC discourses.

Baba's each and every spoken word is meaningful - it is mantra. So when He has given the name of the DMC discourse when delivering that pravacan, then that title must be carried over into book form. There is no second option.

To this day, the SS-16 Bangla contains the discourse under that wrong name - and no errata page has ever been issued on the back page of the book. Please check in your copy of the book, and then listen to the audio file and see for yourself how the printed Bengali edition does not match Baba's original pravacan.

Beautiful Baby Became Like This

This above photo is for those who cannot understand Bengali and Hindi, as this image will give a picture of the extreme degree to which some are tampering with Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji’s discourses. Sadguru Baba gave a beautiful heading - “Artha aor Parama’rtha” (Hindi) - but when Tiljala Publications printed that discourse in Bengali then they deformed and mutilated Guru’s given heading and instead called it: "Ápekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa".

Those who do not understand Bangla and Hindi may not fathom the degree of deformity. But by this photo they can get an idea of what transpired.

Just as a beautiful baby became maimed and deformed per the above photo, a similar degree of deformity has occurred with Guru’s given title. Baba beautifully called it “Artha aor Parama’rtha” (Hindi) and those in Tiljala hacked it and called it, "Ápekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa". They did not follow what Guru told.

Rather they went far, far from the original such that it became completely disfigured and turned into something else. A beautiful gift from Guru got ruined. Why? Because it was not given in Bangla so Dada Sarvatmanandji in Tiljala Publications felt it needed to be maimed and deformed. This is their modus operandi as they have done this sin with countless discourses.

All in all it is just like a beautiful child that is born as into a family of the so-called untouchable caste. Then, according to some people, that baby does not have the right to remain beautiful. Those haters will try to deform and disfigure that baby. And that type of rampant mutilation is exactly what has happened with respect to Guru’s teachings. Those in Tiljala Publications have disfigured Sadguru Baba’s discourses.

All Languages Are The Languages Of Parama Puruśa

Following is Guru's teaching on this issue.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "All languages must be given equal respect. One should remember that all languages are the languages of Parama Puruśa." (A Few Problems Solved - 3, Human Society Is One and Indivisible – 3)

Thus there is no question of any language being better or more pure than any other. The only point at hand is the authenticity of Guru's discourses. What He has graciously given should be preserved in perfect, As-is fashion - regardless of the language in which He spoke. Every true devotee will openly embrace this approach as a means to maintain the originality and integrity of Guru's discourses. They will follow His order and print the heading / title according to what He has given.

But approaching the matter with their own motive, some in Tiljala instead regard non-Bengali languages like Hindi, English, and other languages as not their language - but rather as something foreign. That's why they wrongly feel that they have full right to change Guru's discourses given in languages other than their own - Bengali. Otherwise what can be the reason.

Our Tiljala Dadas openly and falsely defend and justify that theirs is the proper system. They publicly state that all discourses must go via Bengali - but that is wrong.

Namaskar,
in Him,
Satyanarayan

Note 2: Printed Editions of This Discourse

Subháśita Saḿgraha, part 16, Hindi edition, "Sápekśika tattva aor Parama Puruśa", chapter 9,  p. 58

Subháśita Saḿgraha, part 16, Bengali edition, "Ápekśika tattva o Parama Puruśa", chapter 10, p. 79

Note 3: Not Same Title - Not Same Meaning

It is obvious that the title originally given by Baba and the title selected by those Dadas are different. The worst thing is that those Dadas could not follow Guru’s basic instruction. They invented their own title. And that title does not carry the same meaning. Baba’s original title - "Artha aor Paramártha" (Hindi) - has no direct translation into English, but it basically means “That which brings temporary relief and permanent relief from suffering.” In stark contrast, those Dadas changed title whereby the meaning is "Relative Factors and Parama Puruśa." Clearly these are not the same.
