The distortions introduced by Tiljala group in their publications of Bábá’s discourses are errors of commissional in nature. But let none make the mistake of thinking that H and EC groups are innocent here; by their failure to take interest in publishing Bábá’s original discourses, they demonstrate a lethargy toward Bábá’s shástra which is highly condemnable. H and EC groups’ failure to publish Bábá’s original discourses is a failure of omission. The omissional error of H and EC is every bit as serious as the commissional errors of Tiljala group. Two days ago, the first of a series on the discourse “Knowledge and Progress” was posted. There it was explained that this discourse, delivered by Bábá in Hindi on 20th November, 1966, was drastically summarized by the Tiljala Publishers in their printing with many important elements left out.

You know that at the time of the fight between the Kaoravas and the Páńd́avas, the latter [tried] very reasonably to make the former understand, but in vain. Yudhiśt́hira even prayed to God for a change in them. Addition of Text in Guru’s Discourse

In this portion of the discourse, Bábá is presenting an example to describe why some particular humans or sometimes all humans have a behavior that is animal like. Firstly, Bábá says that human mind is made up of three parts, namely, the collective protozoic mind, the collective metazoic mind, and the unit mind. A protozoic mind is entirely guided by instinct. The ahamtattva is not developed in protozoic mind. Each cell and individual organs made of them in a human body have their protozoic minds that govern their respective functions. The collection of protozoic minds in humans is known as kámamaya kośa or metazoic mind. The faculty of viveka (discrimination) is non-existent in protozoic mind; viveka emerges only in unit human mind. If a human is mainly driven by instincts and not viveka, then it is to be understood that the unit mind in that person is not capable of governing the metazoic and protozoic minds.

In a human whose unit mind has less control, the protozoic mind dominates. Since in a protozoic mind, the faculty of viveka is non-existent, the only way that human can be controlled is by discipline.

Here Bábá is referring to the example of Duryodhana, who is representing a person in whom protozoic mind is not adequately controlled by the unit mind. Such a person will not understand his mistake even if we try. This is because the unit mind is not capable of controlling his protozoic minds. Protozoic minds do not have viveka, thus they will not listen to reasoning. Such people in whom protozoic minds dominate are purely guided by instincts and not any ideology or rationale.

Even if a prayer to Paramátmá is done to make such people righteous, it may not happen due to the composition of their mind. Here, the Tiljala Publishers have inserted their own sentence: There was the grace of Paramátman also, but they were too crude to understand this.”In this case, such a sentence was not spoken by Bábá. In fact, the grace of Paramátmá is always there and crude people hold an umbrella of vanity (crude behavior) to prevent getting drenched by the grace. However, here Bábá is making a different point about how mind functions. Inserting such a sentence is diverting the attention of the reader.

Distortion in Guru's Discourse is Not Acceptable

In this posting, a distortion in the form of a sentence inserted by the Tiljala publishers is brought to the notice of Ánanda Márgiis.Bábá’s all teachings are pointed and such a distortion is digressing the main idea of the teaching here. This kind of dilution of such great teachings is not appropriate.

As Ánanda Márgiis it is our duty to understand, appreciate, internalize, and propagate Bábá’s true teachings. In order to fulfill this duty, that Ánanda Má́rga scripture which we study and propagate, has to be proper. If our scripture itself is distorted, then what we learn and propagate will itself be distorted. So when we see that our shástra is indeed full of errors introduced by our Publishers, then it becomes our duty to point this out and put pressure to get our books fixed. This will prevent people from getting misguided and thereby true pracára of Bábá’s teachings can take place.

2. Example of More Distortion: Shloka Left Out

In our Tiljala Publishers' approach to translation, they sometimes make sweeping summaries of the original discourse and reduce the discourse to a fraction of its original size. When they take this approach, then they often leave out most or all of the shlokas which Bábá has given during the discourse. Here in the discourse "Knowledge and Progress", they have taken this very approach, removing the shloka which Bábá has given. Below is the shloka which should have appeared. The Publishers removed it, instead writing a few lines of their own in explanation of the idea. Bábá gave His explanation of the shloka; that also they left out.

Fix Bábá's Discourses Now or Never

If we remain passive onlookers and do not fix the negative trends of introducing distortion into Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji's discourses—if we do not bring the printed discourses up to the proper standard now—it will become impossible to change this in the future. And even if in future some sincere Ánanda Márgiis will try, they will be treated as enemies. Because this is the way religion works: Today one cannot teach the devotees of Lord Krśńa that He has nothing to do with cows; they will never believe it. In the same way, Ánanda Márgiis will become used to the wrong teachings in our AM books and they will not like to give them up. They will think that whatever was there at the end of the twentieth century, that was the gold standard for all time. And it should be kept and maintained.

Ánanda Má́rga is dharma—not religion—but we will face the same opposition from within to change, when wrong teachings get established.

So we don't have any time: it is either now or never. The clock is ticking: If we do not get Bábá's discourses fixed now, it will be impossible to do so later. And that will cause bloodshed and more division on the basis of the various versions of Bábá's teachings and their explanations. History bears testimony to this, that all the religions have similarly broken into multiple factions, groups and subgroups on the basis of differences in scripture interpretations. Bábá wanted to eliminate such problems, and that is why Bábá's discourses are recorded. But unfortunately, those recordings are not being published properly. This matter is very serious.

On 20th November, 1966 Bábá delivered a DMC discourse titled Jiṋána aor Vikásha (ज्ञान और विकाश) in Hindi. (1) The Tiljala Publishers published the discourse first in English, in 1992; only many years later in 2011 did it get published in the original language Hindi—and only in extremely brief, summarized form.

In the course of preparing any discourse for publication, an authentic, “As Is” version of the original language discourse first needs to be made. Using that as the original base, careful, faithful translations can then be prepared in various languages. Such an approach has tremendous value for all those not knowing the original language.

Instead of following such a respectable path, the Tiljala Publishers found the discourse in an old AMPS magazine in which it had been printed in English—and published that. Due to the defective source, the printed discourse is mere summary—a fraction of the size of the original—and is reworded in the vocabulary of the Publishers.


Defective Source Used for Publication

Here is the Tiljala Publishers' Publishers Note describing the source they used for printing this discourse:

The Real and the Unreal Knowledge”*. First published in English in Education and Culture, June 1972. Original language, date and place not identified in the magazine. English re-editing by ÁAA.

Recall that the discourse was given in Hindi—not English. And the Tiljala Publishers have the original audio recording of the Hindi discourse. Yet, instead of using the original sound source, they printed the discourse twice in two separate books—Subháśita Saḿgraha Part 19 and Ánanda Vacanámrtam Part 23, on the basis of what they found in the 1972 magazine.

*Published under a different title, but is the same discourse.

English Publication Mere Summary of Original Hindi

In comparison with the original discourse Bábá gave in Hindi, this so-called “translation” is a mere summary of the original. The true, original Hindi “As Is” discourse containing every word Bábá spoke, has a word count of 3842. The English version printed by the Tiljala group has a word count of 2577. So the printed English version has 1300 words less than the original Hindi Bábá spoke. That means 34% of the discourse words have been cut. This difference in word count is itself strong indication of the degree to which the discourse has been curtailed and presented in summary.

If one picks any paragraph at all from the “As Is” transcription of the original Hindi and compares it with what the Tiljala Publishers printed in English, one will find that faithful translation was not done—rather, the Publishers summarized in brief what Bábá spoke, and wrote it out in English in their own words.

Summary Means Distortion: Word of Guru Not Translated
Paragraphs to be compared in Series of Postings

The blatant rewriting and summarizing which was carried out, thus radically changing the face of this discourse, will be presented in a series of postings. Here in the first posting, two such distortions of significance shall be presented. And in subsequent postings, further entire paragraphs will be presented which illustrate the unjust rewriting and summarizing which was carried out in the name of translation.

DMC: Subject of Discourse Eliminated

The first two sentences of any discourse carry great significance because it is here that Bábá explains what He is going to discuss. In a DMC discourse, the initial sentences are even more important because Bábá formally announces the title of the discourse. Only in DMC discourses does Bábá personally name the discourse. The current discourse is a DMC discourse; Bábá announced the discourse title in the first sentence; and the Tiljala Publishers eliminated the sentence.

Here then are the first two original sentences of this important discourse. These first two sentences have never been printed anywhere.

These sentences carry great import, as Bábá announces the discourse subject and title. They were left out of the printed version published by Tiljala group.

The Tiljala Publishers simply took what was printed in the 1972 magazine and reprinted that as the official DMC discourse. The magazine editors removed the first two sentences for the magazine, so by using that as their source the Tiljala Publishers cut the first two sentences from the official publication in Subháśita Saḿgraha Part 19. If they had listened to their original sound recording, they would have immediately realized their critical mistake.

Section of Discourse is Shallow Summary of Original

Here below is an example from the middle of the discourse where Bábá is explaining about possible sources of error in mundane knowledge. He is talking about the different reasons one may err in stating the capital of Punjab. (Lahore was the capital of Punjab until India was divided by the British in 1947 and Lahore became part of Pakistan.) Bábá explains a first source of error is that one may be reading from an old book which was made when Lahore was the capital of Punjab; this book would give you outdated information. As a second source of error, Bábá explains in the below passage that there could be a printing mistake in the book. Here below is the passage:

There can be still one more flaw in the source of physical knowledge, and that is a printing mistake. Because of it you read “Lahore” as “Labore”.

A Mere Summary: By The Numbers

So we see above in green, the “As Is” transcript of the original Hindi passage Bábá spoke. That passage contains 13 sentences with 95 words. This section as printed by the Tiljala Publishers in English, here in red, contains 3 sentences, with 34 words. A 34-word section simply cannot be claimed as a “translation” of a 95-word section. It is obviously a summary.

A Mere Summary: By The Content

And if you read the original Hindi above (or if you don't know Hindi, then its translation provided in green just below it), you will see that Bábá has given a rich, colorful, in depth description of the scene in which a high-class intellectual makes a fool of himself by reading wrongly printed information (Lálore is the capital of Punjab), and claiming it to be correct in front of others. Bábá paints such a scene, that afterward when He smiles the Márgiis break out into laughter.

In contrast, the version printed by the Tiljala Publishers is an obvious summary, dryly re-written in brief. The scene is not at all described; it is merely stated that a printing mistake causes you to misread the word Lahore. Here there is complete lack of integrity in the translation. Indeed, it cannot be called “translation”, for nothing has been translated. Instead the Publishers read the Hindi passage, and wrote three sentences themselves in summary of what they understood. They did not even keep the original printing mistake given by Bábá as Lálore, changing it instead to Labore for no reason at all.

What is Faithful Translation

Faithful translation means there should be a clear, sentence-by-sentence thread in which a reader knowing both languages can easily see and follow along with the translation of each sentence. Then only can one say that the reader is actually reading the words of Guru in translation.

Faithful Translation Not Followed

In this discourse, the technique of faithful translation has been thrown to the wind. The above example demonstrates lack of any sentence-by-sentence technique. There has been no attempt to follow the structure and content given by Bábá in Hindi and to reproduced it as closely as possible in English. The Publishers have summarized in three brief sentences what Bábá has given in thirteen.

Rewriting / Summarizing the Discourses of Guru
And Calling it “Translation”: Must Not Be Done

It is said that mantramulam guruvákyam i.e., every word of the Guru is verily a mantra and serves to guide sádhakas for all time to come. The most pure adherence to this principle is attained by publishing “As Is”, in the original language. Yet the principle remains vital to successful translation as well. Márgiis the world over read Bábá's Hindi discourses in English as well as other languages. These translations must be done applying a careful sentence-by-sentence technique which demonstrates clear, consistent correlation between what Bábá spoke and what is translated. Then only can it be said that mantramulam guruvákyam has been adhered to.

In this discourse, Jiṋána aor Vikásha, in the English publication every single paragraph is rewritten, and there is no adherence to the sentence flow and structure as given by Bábá. Moreover, most of the paragraphs are presented in drastic summary—as seen in the above example with the printing mistake of the word Lahore.

Improper Scripture Leads to Division

Bábá has explained how the lack of any shástra given directly by the Buddha led to disagreement among His followers as to what the Buddha's teachings were. That in turn led to schism among the ranks and ultimate division into hundreds of Buddhist sects each with their own beliefs as to what Buddha's teachings really are.

In this connection Bábá says, "One important thing has to be mentioned. Buddhism, three hundred years after the death of Buddha, was clearly divided into two groups, (A) Mahásaḿghik, and (B) Sthavirvádii or Theravádii." (2)

So we Ánanda Márgiis should understand that if we allow our scripture to remain distorted, that distorted scripture will be the cause of more and more division and splintering among Ánanda Márgiis—as it has been with every religion of the world.

Distorted Scripture is the Cause of Schism
Proper Scripture is the Cause of Unity

In the religions of the world, long after, sometimes hundreds of years after a seer or sage—Christ, Buddha, Mohammad—left the world, their followers wrote down what they thought He said. And there was disagreement about it, which only flourished and caused division into sects. Bábá's shástra is different from that of the religions of the world because He has Himself dictated it. And yet despite this, the same schisms as happened in the religions, will go on escalating in Ánanda Márga as well if we do not clean our shástra.

Division into sects has happened with every religious and spiritual movement in the history of humanity. THE difference in Ánanda Márga is that Bábá is Táraka Brahma and He has dictated His own scripture. But that has to be protected from distortion or it will lose its functional value. It is the duty of Ánanda Márgiis throughout the world to see to it that our Ánanda Márga shástra remains intact, pure, flawless. It is the cause of our unity for ages to come.

In the same way, Ánanda Márgiis will become used to the wrong teachings in our AM books and they will not like to give them up. They will think that whatever was there at the end of the twentieth century, that was the gold standard for all time. And it should be kept and maintained.

Ánanda Má́rga is dharma—not religion—but we will face the same opposition from within to change, when wrong teachings get established.

So we don't have any time: it is either now or never. The clock is ticking: If we do not get Bábá's discourses fixed now, it will be impossible to do so later. And that will cause bloodshed and more division on the basis of the various versions of Bábá's teachings and their explanations. History bears testimony to this, that all the religions have similarly broken into multiple factions, groups and subgroups on the basis of differences in scripture interpretations. Bábá wanted to eliminate such problems, and that is why Bábá's discourses are recorded. But unfortunately, those recordings are not being published properly. This matter is very serious.

ÁV23 Discourse “Knowledge and Progress”: Lahore Example Drastically Summarized

Bábá


The discourse Jiṋána aor Vikásha (Knowledge and Progress), originally given in Hindi by Bábá on 20th November, 1966, has been published only in brief summary in English by the Tiljala Publishers. (1) The original Hindi discourse given by Bábá contains 3842 words while the English version printed by the Tiljala group has a word count of only 2577. So the printed English version has 1300 words less than the original Hindi Bábá spoke.

During the discourse Bábá used Lahore, the old capital of Punjab state, to illustrate three types of error in sources of mundane knowledge: (1) The book in which it is printed that Lahore is the capital of Punjab may be outdated; (2) There may be a printing error in the book; (3) There may be something wrong with one's eyesight causing one to misread what is in the book.

Bábá dedicated a separate paragraph to each of these three points, illustrating them in a story-like fashion. However the Tiljala Publishers summarized all three in brief fashion, and collapsed the second and third points into one paragraph. Here we examine the second of these three points.

The two scans below are of the same discourse, although they were named differently at the time by the Tiljala Publishers. The area outlined in red shows the sentences which pertain to the second source of error, that of a printing mistake in the word “Lahore”. The example in the newer of the two printings, the lower scan of Ánanda Vacanámrtam, contains 3 sentences, with 34 words. That is as compared to the actual Hindi spoken by Bábá on this point, which contains 13 sentences with 95 words.

Note that in both scans there is a sentence in between the two highlighted sections. That is the third type of error, wedged by the Tiljala Publishers into the paragraph about the second type. It should have been given its own separate paragraph in full expanded form as Bábá spoke it.

UPDATED NOTES ABOUT H GROUP—It is regrettable that H and EC groups have no interest in Bábá’s discourses, otherwise they would have become active in publishing them from the original sound track instead of merely reprinting the books which the Tiljala group publishes. The distortions introduced by Tiljala group in their publications of Bábá’s discourses are errors of commissional in nature. But let none make the mistake of thinking that H and EC groups are innocent here; by their failure to take interest in publishing Bábá’s original discourses, they demonstrate a lethargy toward Bábá’s shástra which is highly condemnable. H and EC groups’ failure to publish Bábá’s original discourses is a failure of omission. The omissional error of H and EC is every bit as serious as the commissional errors of Tiljala group. And moreover, H group's publishing department merely reprints the distortion-laden, error-filled books made by Tiljala group, and puts their stamp on it. So they are supporting and participating in the sins of Tiljala group.”

Important Portion Left Out—A Poor Show

Respected Brothers and Sisters,
Namaskár.

Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji has given an important discourse, “The Singular Entity”, on September 4, 1978 in Patna. (1) In the discourse, Bábá spoke alternately in English and Hindi. Tiljala group, in their English publication of the discourse, has printed only the English sections Bábá spoke and left out the content of the Hindi sections. This has resulted in numerous distortions of omission: there are important passages Bábá spoke only in Hindi, which the Tiljala Publishers failed to translate and include in the English publication. This failure has led to significant deficiencies in the publication.

Tiljala Publishers Removed All Hindi Language Sections

Two postings have been sent on the subject of this discourse: the first on the subject of the Tiljala Publishers' omission of the examples Bábá gave in Hindi about tears of sadness (shokáshru) and tears of joy (ánandáshru) to illustrate the ways in which Parama Puruśa is Rudra—The Entity that makes you shed tears(2); and the second on the subject of how Bábá used the example of Hindu temples to illustrate how Parama Puruśa's infinite nature renders foolish the effort to house God in finite buildings. (3) Both the above teachings were given only in Hindi, and because only the sections Bábá spoke in English were included in the printing, both subjects were left entirely out of the published discourse.

Flagship Paragraph Left Out of Printed Discourse

The name of this discourse in Hindi is “Ekohi Rudra”, and in English “The Singular Entity”. The reason the discourse is thus named, is that Bábá gives a special logic in this discourse as to why Parama Puruśa can only be One. Bábá explains in detail about this in Hindi only, and that flagship paragraph was left out by the Publishers. In English Bábá gives an indirect hint about it, which in the absence of the full Hindi explanation remains incomplete.

Multiple Controllers Would Destroy the Universe

So here then is a third subject amplified by Bábá only in Hindi—and therefore left out of the published discourse. Bábá explained in Hindi using the example of Hindu temples, that Parama Puruśa is only one and not many. And He further gave the key logic that if there were two Rudras—two Parama Puruśas—the two would each have their own set of rules for running the universe and the conflict between the two sets of rules would ruin the universe. That latter logic Bábá expressed in very brief summary in English, and that single sentence only is printed by the Tiljala Publishers. Not only that, they distorted the sentence by changing a conjunction Bábá used, which renders the sentence unclear.

As with the prior two subjects, this subject as amplified in Hindi by Bábá was left out of both the English and Hindi language publications. Here we are addressing the English discourse; in subsequent postings the Hindi publication of this discourse will also be discussed.

Here below is the section Bábá gave in Hindi, and which is therefore missing from both the English and Hindi publications. This passage has never been printed anywhere by the Tiljala Publishers.

Bábá Amplified the Matter in Hindi

All Hindi Passages Were Left Out of Published Discourse

The above passage was spoken directly by Bábá in Hindi during His discourse. In the passage, Bábá is demonstrating that there can only be one Parama Puruśa; there can never be two. In Hindi, Bábá amplifies the point and makes it very clear.

Printing Only What Bábá Said in English

Leaves the Discourse Incomplete

Here is what Bábá said on this point during the discourse in His English section:

Had there been more than one Rudra*, the system or the conformity of the universe would have been lost. So, Rudra cannot be more than one.”

Left on its own, this single sentence does not give a clear explanation as to why Rudra cannot be more than one. What is the reason the system of the universe would have been lost if there had been more than one Rudra? The sentence does not explain why—something more is needed. Bábá gave that reason in Hindi, and it was left out of the discourse by the Tiljala Publishers.

*The Entity that makes you shed tears, i.e. Parama Puruśa.

Distorted Even That Single English Sentence

Moreover, that single sentence Bábá spoke in English was printed by the Tiljala Publishers in this way:

Had there been more than one Rudra, the system of the conformity of the universe would have been lost. So Rudra cannot be more than one.”

The phrase “the system of the conformity of the universe” is even more unclear. What is the system of the conformity of the universe?” The reader is correct in his or her puzzlement. The question needs an answer—and the answer is not found in the printed discourse.

And Bábá gave that amplification in Hindi. It is unfortunate that the Tiljala Publishers ignored the Hindi sections Bábá spoke and did not print any of them.

And not only that—there cannot be two Rudras. Why? Because everything in the universe moves according to a system, according to certain rules. If there were two Rudras, their rules would conflict with each other. Due to this conflict in the rules, everything would be destroyed in the universe. But, we see that everything in the world goes on according to the rules. And this proves that the Rudra (One who makes us weep) is one only, not two.

Bábá's Focused Explanation: Why Rudra Can Only Be One

Hindi Section Was Needed to Make the Matter Clear

So here above, we see that Bábá has made the matter of why Rudra can only be One, very clear in Hindi. If the Tiljala Publishers had included this in the published discourse, the subject would have become quite clear. But they failed to do so, and due to this the subject appears as if Bábá has given some vague, incomplete idea. Here again is all the Tiljala Publishers printed on the subject:

Had there been more than one Rudra, the system of the conformity of the universe would have been lost. So Rudra cannot be more than one.

The reader is left guessing what “the system of the conformity of the universemeans and why it would be lost. But in Hindi, Bábá has made this very clear. He explains that if there were two Controllers, they would each have their own set of rules for running the universe. The two sets of rules would conflict with and struggle against each other, and this would cause the ruination of the system by which the universe runs. Bábá goes on to explain that there is no sign at all of such chaos; rather the universe is running very smoothly. And so He concludes, by this it is proved that there is only one Controller of the universe. All of this beautiful explanation given in Hindi by Bábá, was left out of the published discourse by the Tiljala Publishers.


Bábá Gives Example of Temples

Bábá also gives a further example to illustrate indeed how silly it is to consider the idea of multiple Supreme Controllers of the universe.

So here Bábá explains that there are thousands of temples, each having had a Supreme “God” installed in it. But Bábá exposes that the notion of there being thousands of Supreme Controllers—one in each temple—is ludicrous. There is only Supreme Controller.

And Bábá raised this matter only in Hindi; when He switched over to English, He did not mention it at all. And the Tiljala Publishers only used what Bábá spoke in English to make the English printed discourse. As a result, this above material which is part of the discourse, was left out of the printed publication.

Unique Teaching on Temple Dogma

So, in this Hindi section which was never printed by the Tiljala Publishers, Bábá demonstrates in full detail that Parama Puruśa could only be one. And that once having been explained, the subject of thousands of temples becomes all the more touching. Because in India, there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of gods and goddesses. And the worshipers of those deities go to the temples where they are housed, believing fully that the deity they pray to is the controller of the universe. But then when they later attend prayer at a different temple housing a different god, they believe that god also to be the controller of the universe. And it does not occur to such múrti pújakas that all these different gods could not ALL be controllers of the universe. Otherwise with so many controllers of the universe, there would tremendous clash and the universe would not run well! But such questions do not arise in the minds of their followers. Bábá exposes the foolishness and flat-out illogical contradiction of such beliefs by combining His passage on multiple temples with that on the conflict in running the universe with multiple Controllers.

Must Include All Languages in Publication of Discourse

Leaving Out Certain Languages Makes Discourse Incomplete

Leaving out the sections Bábá has given in Hindi, renders the principle subject of this discourse unclear. It must be remembered that when Bábá speaks in more than one language during a discourse, He does not merely translate what He said in one language, into the other(s). Bábá expands on the point through the process of speaking in various languages, and gives different examples in each. So all the different language segments are part of the discourse, and must be treated as such by the Publishers. To remove the segments Bábá spoke in certain languages renders the discourse unclear and incomplete.

Must Not Misguide Readers

Leaving Out Sections Opens Door to Dogma

Verily, to leave out certain languages in the publication of a discourse, misguides readers. Táraka Brahma has given pristine, clear teachings. Leaving out sections renders the teaching unclear and vague, and opens the door to misinterpretation and dogma.

Bábá says, "If one is not able to give the people proper guidance, then at least one should not misguide them. One must not divert them from the proper path by exploiting the tender and delicate sentiments of the human mind. In the physical world there should be a strict controller as a shástra – and it is better to have a strong personality than a written book – but in the mental sphere the scripture and the person who upholds the scripture have equal importance as far as their utility and practical value is concerned. There must be an excellent and all-embracing philosophy, in which there should be no loophole in any sphere of mind as far as possible." (NSS, Disc: 14)

Story: Dead Body In A Box

It is an interesting observation that over the years H/EC group has not trusted B group on anything, and they have been continuously involved in to-the-death legal clashes in court. But H/EC group did demonstrate full trust on B group in one area: they took the books published by B-group and turned around and published them point blank, without checking anything. This was a matter of self-destruction: without checking or confirming anything in the discourses, H/EC group accepted those books together with all their serious distortions. H/EC group has taken responsibility for everything in the discourses published by B group, and printed their own name on the publisher's page.”

It is like a thief who stole a box off a train. In the process of escaping with the box he got caught by the police. Upon their questioning he insisted it was his own box. The police proceeded to open the box and found inside the dead body of a murdered child. So now the thief has trapped himself in a murder. The police had asked him if the box was his and he swore it was. Now he is trapped.”

In the same way, H/EC group acquired B group's distortion-ridden printed discourses, and took credit for the discourses by reprinting them in their own name. Having claimed credit as the publisher, they are now getting caught red-handed as the creators of distortion-filled discourses such as this one containing the nonsensical paragraph in question.”

If we remain passive onlookers and do not fix the negative trends of introducing distortion into Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji's discourses—if we do not bring the printed discourses up to the proper standard now—it will become impossible to change this in the future. And even if in future some sincere Ánanda Márgiis will try, they will be treated as enemies. Because this is the way religion works: Today one cannot teach the devotees of Lord Krśńa that He has nothing to do with cows; they will never believe it.
