Here we present completely new points of scriptural distortion and Bangalistion from the discourse Mantra Shakti, chapter 11 of Ananda Vacanamrtam 13 / 14. This is the third letter related with this discourse and links to the prior two are appended below.

Please know that the entire main section of this letter - and the scan itself from the printed discourse - are entirely new points. So be sure to take note of those corrections as they have never been presented previously.

a. This letter reveals how our Tiljala Publications left out many key sentences from Baba's original Hindi discourse - Mantra Shakti - chapter 11 of Ananda Vacanamrtam-13/14. Important ideas that Baba spoke in Hindi were not included in the printed English discourse. The other issue is that our publishers concocted and added false statements in Baba's name. These points are completely new - details are below.

Many Gross Errors

In the first two paragraphs of the printed discourse - Mantra Shakti - Ananda Vacanamrtam-13/14 (2011), there are numerous mistakes, deletions, and inconsistencies compared with what Bábá actually spoke in Hindi. The sound file is on the blog for you to listen and download. So you can check all points noted below with the original sound file.

They Omitted Baba's Examples of Relief Work

#1: In the first paragraph of this same discourse our Tiljala Publishers omitted these following ideas highlighted in red. Baba expressed this idea in His Hindi discourse - जैसे, बाढ़ में लोग त्राण-कार्य करते हैं, अकाल में लोग त्राण-कार्य करते हैं (01:19 - 01:-24) - but it was left out of the English publication.

"When a person gets relief from suffering or sorrow it is called tra'n'a. For example, people do tra'n'a work [relief work]  at the time of a flood. People do (tra'n'a work [relief work] at the time of famine. So tra'n'a means to help someone to free themselves from suffering."

An important element from any discourse given by Baba is the use of examples. That makes His point clear. But in this case, our Tiljala Publishers cut the examples noted above - relief work during a flood or famine - and they were never printed in the 2011 English edition of AV-13/14.

They Even Got The First Sentence Wrong

#2: To begin His discourse  in Hindi, Baba states, "[कल कहा गया था] योग शब्द के सम्बन्ध में, और उसके दुरुपयोग के सम्बन्ध में |." (00:00 - 00:08)

Baba is expressing this idea:

Yesterday I told you about the term yoga and the way it is misused.

But our Tiljala Publishers could not present even this first sentence in the proper manner. Instead they wrote:

I spoke earlier about the erroneous definition of the word "yoga."

Misuse in the practical sphere and an erroneous definition in the theoretical sphere are two radically different things. If anyone does not understand then they should email me.

In the following scan, the underlined sentence is wrong. It should have been: ”Yesterday I told you about the term yoga and the way it is misused."

And not just these but there are many, many more errors throughout the printed English discourse, "Mantra Shakti" - chapter 11 of Ananda Vacanamrtam 13 /14 (2011).

The Bogus Publisher's Note
Shows It as a Bangla Discourse

I. But look what our publishers have written about this very discourse in their Publisher’s Note:

"Mantra Shatkti". Discourse in Bengali. Tape. Originally published in Bengali as “Mantra Shakti” in Ánanda Vacanámrtam 13, 1980. Tr. from the Bengali by Dr. Aditya Kumar Mohanty.

So in this Publisher’s Note they are making the bogus claim that this discourse was originally given in Bengali. But this is wrong. (see note 3)

II. FACT: This discourse, Mantra Shakti, was given by Bábá in Hindi. They translated this discourse from Hindi into Bengali and then again from Bengali into English and printed it in the English book, Ánanda Vacanámrtam part 13-14, chapter 11, p.87. And the ramifications of this are horrific.

III. The printed and published English discourse does not match up with Bábá’s original Hindi which Bábá Himself spoke. The outcome is that instead of reading Bábá’s original words, readers are reading an endless stream of concocted sentences that were translated from Bengali.

IV. This letter addresses a completely new point from chapter 11 of Ánanda Vacanámrtam Part 13-14. In the past you read about other issues, but this matter presented below is entirely new.

V. To make the English version in Ánanda Vacanámrtam, part 13-14, they translated the discourse twice—from Hindi into Bengali and then from Bengali into English. In so doing, they have ruined the English discourse.

VII. Every Má́rgii needs Bábá's true discourse, not the concocted verbosity of so-called intellectuals of Tiljala Publications. And that only can happen if it is done from the original cassette. That why it is every Márgii's issue. This is not a Hindi-Bengali or a language issue; this is a universal issue. Remember: you are not getting your Guru's teaching properly. The things which you are reading in the book in the name of Bábá, that is something else. For more clarity, go on reading.

VIII. Read the below and it will be crystal-clear. Also be sure to play the sound (see note 1) and carefully review the published discourse. In the below letter everything is explained.

Bogus Claim About Bangla in Mumbai

Above you have seen the essence of what has happened. Our Tiljala Publishers (TP) took a discourse given by Bábá in Hindi in Mumbai, and claimed that it was given in Bengali. As proof of what they have done, we are including a scan of the Publishers Note in which the Tiljala Publishers made this claim. (see note 3)

Those familiar with Mumbai are aware that the principle languages there are Hindi and Marathi. With the exception of subgroups who migrated there from West Bengal, people in Mumbai do not know Bengali. Bábá did not give any discourse in Mumbai in Bengali.

It is vitally important that you listen to the sound file. If you do not know Hindi, please request any friend who does to listen. They will confirm for you that every word Bábá has spoken is Hindi, and there is not a single Bengali word.

Reason for Distortion:
Hindi Discourse Bengalized Meaninglessly

There are innumerable other serious errors in this very first paragraph, as well as in the remainder of the discourse. The principle reason for these errors is that the discourse was translated from the original Hindi into Bengali and then published originally in Bengali—as though the discourse had been given by Bábá in Bengali—in 1980. Then in 2011 when the first English edition was prepared, it was translated from the Bengali translation made in 1980. Translating a discourse twice will obviously cause significant loss of content, which is exactly what we find when we compare the original Hindi spoken by Bábá with this twice-translated English edition of 2011.

Discourse Translated Twice:
Evidence of Bengalization

The reason our Tiljala Publishers have made the English translation from the translated Bengali edition rather than from the original Hindi is clear: they want to show Bábá's discourses as having been given mostly in Bengali—when that is not at all the case. They want to bloat the number of Bengali discourse through bogus ventures. Such a falsification process is known as Bengalization: the systematic approach used to present Bábá as “Bengali” (rather than as Parama Puruśa, who can have no limitation of locale), and to show that Bábá knew and spoke only Bengali.

Some new margiis may be wondering why all this is going on - why would those Tiljala Publishers be so intrigued and enticed to steal discourses by claiming them as original Bengali. The reason is very clear. They want bragging rights that Bangla is the greatest and top-most language and that all should bow down to the mighty pedestal of the Bengali language.

In that sense they are no different than the Muslims. Those Muslims have mandated that that the Koran / Quaran must only be printed in Arabic. Thus all followers of Islam must learn Arabic to read their scripture. Those at the helm of Tiljala Publications desire the same status for Bengali. If one day they are able to step-by-step steal all the discourses and falsely label them as coming from the original Bengali, then they can impose Bangla on all. Everyone will be forced in that direction. This is their long-term dream. They want Bengali to become the religious language of Ananda Marga. That is their which they hope to manifest one day. In sum, such publishers are a spitting-image of those Islamic clerics.

Scripture Must Be Universal,
Not Limited by Any Narrow Sentiment

We Ánanda Márgiis must express our voice and save our scripture. Today it is being encroached upon by narrow sentiments, and that will lead to its destruction. The scripture given by Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrti is dharma—a rare thing. It must be saved from limited sentiments at any cost.

Bábá says, "When the sole purpose of scripture, i.e. dharmashástra is to establish the human beings in the stable, exalted position of spiritual ideation, it must be practical, rational, infallible and universal. It must be based on deep eternal truths. It must be áptavákya. A scripture is a guided entity." (Tattva Kaomudii - 2)

Again, the purpose of this letter is to make Bábá's printed discourses authentic and dogma-free. This is not a language issue this is an issue of authenticity. The duty of every disciple of Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji is to keep an eye on the purity of Guru's printed books.

Many Gross Errors

They Omitted Baba's Important Declaration:
That He Can Teach Others The Mantra to Relieve Scorpion Stings

#1: Here is an example of one very significant omission by Tiljala Publications. Here is the idea which Baba spoke in His original Hindi discourse - please know that He is talking about getting stung by a scorpion. Unfortunately, Baba's point highlighted in red below was never placed in the published English edition.

"If one applies the mantra for one and a half or two minutes, the stinging pain will cease. If anybody wants to learn I will teach them later on - it is not difficult. That which brings relief from suffering - that is what? Mantra."

So that is the idea which Baba expressed in Hindi. But the entire red section was not printed in the English edition of AV-13/14.

Yet Baba clearly expressed this idea in the original Hindi, [03:01-03:16, timing of sound file], see this below Hindi section:


कोई सीखना चाहो, तो पीछे मैं सिखा दूँगा, कोई बात नहीं है |

Thus the Tiljala Publishers completely omitted this entire idea where Baba says: "If anybody wants to learn I will teach them later on - it is not difficult. That which brings relief from suffering - that is what? Mantra."  

This is a key line because this shows the reader that Sadguru Baba has complete mastery over the topic. He Himself knows how to select and use the mantra to save someone from the terrible pain and danger of a scorpion sting. And He can teach others. Such knowledge and ability demonstrates that He is an authority on this dangerous health issue. Yet this idea the Publishers deleted from the English edition.

So anyone reading the English edition will think that Baba is talking only theoretically, not practically. But that is not true. Baba is clearly declaring that He Himself knows perfectly how to use the mantra to bring relief from a scorpion sting - and He can teach this to others. By omitting this key aspect in the English edition, the entire point is undermined and the non-margii reader will not be convinced of Baba's expertise.

Then they also removed this idea: "That which brings relief from suffering - that is what? Mantra."

In that line Baba is emphasizing the exact function and value of the mantra with regards to scorpion bites. Whereas the way they printed it in the English edition is very awkward and incomplete. They merely wrote: "It is a mantra."

Following are the details of how the Publishers took an original Hindi discourse - "Mantra Shakti" - from AV-13 and labeled it as a Bangla discourse. This very harmful, alarming, and deceptive trend is discussed at length below in an easy-to-read format.

1: All should know that Bábá originally delivered the discourse, AV-13 "Mantra Shakti," in Hindi on 01 July 1979, in Patna. But the publishers have declared that Bábá spoke in Bangla. That is their deceptive tactic.

Twice Translated:

Disobeyed Guru's Given System of Translation

2: FACT: This discourse, "Mantra Shakti", was given by Bábá in Hindi. They translated this discourse from Hindi into Bengali, and then again from Bengali into English—and published that twice-translated English version in the English book, Ánanda Vacanámrtam, part 13, chapter 11, p.87. But Bábá's rule is that any translation is to be done directly from the original language, i.e. in this case from Hindi directly to English — which they did not do. So they disobeyed Bábá.

So in their Publisher’s Note they are making the bogus claim that this discourse was originally given in Bengali. But this is wrong.

Authenticity of Baba's Discourse

Note A Language Issue Per Se

9: The purpose of this letter is to make Bábá's printed discourses authentic and dogma-free. This is not a language issue this is an issue of authenticity. We must know the correct history and specifics of each and every discourse. Just as a librarian, professional, or researcher knows all the facts and history of their area of expertise, it is our duty to have the same level of expertise when it comes to archiving, managing, preserving, and publishing His discourses. This will bring integrity to Ananda Marga books, and help both present and future scholars who research Baba's divine work. Finally, each and every devotee should be able to access Guru's words in their original form. Yet if it is not even know what the original language was, then how will they be able to do that. That is why this entire matter is an issue of authenticity - and has nothing to do with on particular language per se. The duty of every disciple of Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji is to keep watch on the purity of Guru's printed books.

Why They Steal:

They Dream Of Putting Bangla on Top & Make it Religious Language

10. Some new margiis may be wondering why all this is going on - why would those Tiljala Publishers be so intrigued and enticed to steal discourses by claiming them as original Bengali. The reason is very clear. They want bragging rights that Bangla is the greatest and top-most language and that all should bow down to the mighty pedestal of the Bengali language.

In that sense they are no different than the Muslims. Those Muslims have mandated that that the Koran / Quaran must only be printed in Arabic. Thus all followers of Islam must learn Arabic to read their scripture. Those at the helm of Tiljala Publications desire the same status for Bengali. If one day they are able to step-by-step steal all the discourses and falsely label them as coming from the original Bengali, then they can impose Bangla on all. Everyone will be forced in that direction. This is their long-term dream. They want Bengali to become the religious language of Ananda Marga. That is their which they hope to manifest one day. In sum, such publishers are a spitting-image of those Islamic clerics.

Summary

The discourse "Mantra Shakti" was given by Bábá in Hindi, in Patna. The Tiljala Publishers have printed that it was given in Bangla, in order to falsely make it appear that Bábá gave more discourses in Bengali than any other language. They translated the discourse twice: from Hindi to Bangla, and from Bangla into English—thus straying the English version far away from the Hindi original.

It is so unfortunate the mistakes in Baba's books are rampant. Up till now Publications could not properly print Guru's discourses in book form. The errors and distortions are pervasive.

This letter examines one such critical error on a vital and foundational point of Ananda Marga ideology.

THREE CRITERIA NEEDED TO BE THEIST

ONE IS NOT ENOUGH

In one historic discourse from 1979 - (see note 2 for sound file) - Baba clearly outlines the requisite factors that define who is a theist, i.e. who is a believer in God.

Baba pointedly states that there are three criteria that need to be fulfilled. If all three are fulfilled then and only then is one a theist - otherwise not.

But the publishers have printed in Tattva Kaomudii and AM Philosophy in A Nutshell - 3 that having one criteria is enough. Yet, Baba's original audio file (see note 2) outlines how all three are needed.

THREE VS ONE

Here are those three qualifications needed to be a theist as given by Sadguru Baba.

A theist is one who accepts:
1. Jiivatma (unit consciousness)
2. Paramatama (supreme consciousness)
3. Veda (spiritual knowledge of how the jiivatma moves towards Paramatma)

Essentially, one must believe in the concept of unit consciousness - i.e. that each and every unit being has a mind and and soul. That is the first criteria.

Secondly, one must believe in the concept and existence of an all-pervading Supreme Consciousness that maintains a personal link with every unit being, as well as with the creation as a whole.

Thirdly, one must accept and understand the basic tenet of spiritual philosophy that by sadhana and His divine grace a unit being may move towards and ultimately merge into the Supreme Being.

According to Baba, all three criteria must be met in order for one to be considered a theist. Merely meeting one or two of the factors will not suffice. All three are required; then one is a theist, i.e. a believer in God. That is Baba's teaching and that is what is expressed in the sound file.

BOOK IS WRONG:

THEY PRINTED THAT ONE CRITERIA IS ENOUGH TO BE A THEIST

Unfortunately, in Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell part 3 Question & Answer discourse, the Publications Dept made a gross and significant error on this point about who is a theist.

Because in that book it states that only one of the aforementioned factors are required:

"Q. 35 – Who should be called an atheist (nástika)?"

"Ans.: – Those who do not believe in Consciousness (Atman), Supreme Consciousness (Paramátman) or Vedas are atheists. Those who believe in any one of them may be called theists." (Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell Part 3, Some Questions and Answers on Ananda Marga Philosophy #35, 1988)

So here in this printed discourse, the Publishers indicate that only one of the three qualifications is needed to be a theist. They claim that if one believes only in unit consciousness (atman), or if one believes only in Supreme Consciousness (Paramatman), or if one only accepts the vedas (spiritual philosophy), then that is sufficient for being a theist. Yet such a premise clearly violates the divine guideline Baba has given in a discourse in 1979 where He explains in great details about why all three factors are needed to be a theist – not just one.

Due to their negligence and gross error, the Publications team makes it look like Ananda Marga philosophy is by definition self-contradictory, and that Baba says one thing in one discourse and another thing in another discourse. Such is the effect of this blunder by the Publications Dept.

As Ananda Margiis, we know that Baba'a divine teachings of Ananda Marga philosophy are wholly consistent in all regards. There is no point of contradiction. It all fits together clearly and cohesively.

Only the books are wrong. And it is incumbent upon the Publications Dept to revise its procedures so the books are printed properly.

OLD PUBLISHING MISTAKES ARE CARRIED OVER INTO NEW BOOKS

Actually, we should all understand the greater history as that shows what a serious and systemic problem this is.

The above error printed in Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell - 3 (1988) is actually a reprinting of the same discourse printed in Tattva Kaomudii part 1 (1958).

So this is the very grave concern: That old publishing mistakes are carried over into new books. This is not an isolated circumstance. There are innumerable examples where the same publishing errors are printed over and over again.

VERY GRAVE ISSUE:

CORE OF OUR ANANDA MARGA PHILOSOPHY

Bear in mind that here we are not talking about superficial aspects of presentation, but rather gross errors that distort the very core of our Ananda Marga philosophy.

Ananda Marga ideology is itself a God-centered philosophy. So clearly defining who is a theist holds great bearing on the preaching and propagation of Ananda Marga ideals.

FACADE WILL NOT HELP

So this is a vital point and when Baba has firmly declared and logically proven why three factors - 1. Jiivatma (unit consciousness) 2. Paramatama (supreme consciousness) 3. Veda (spiritual knowledge) - are needed to be a theist, then that should be clearly noted in our scripture.

So when those in Publications are printing books with gross errors and oversights that undermine Baba's teaching on such vital points, then that is a grave and serious matter that must be addressed.

Indeed, no one can say this is a small or outlying point. This is a very central aspect of Ananda Marga philosophy as those Publications Dept made a blatant and glaring error that misrepresents Baba's divine teachings. Merely creating a facade or sheen that all our books are proper will not work.

In between that time, Baba graciously delivered a completely different discourse in 1979 – link to sound file in note 2 above. And this discourse makes the matter extremely clear. But those in Publications did not pay heed to the topic. It seems they do not study Guru’s teachings.

Because when the afore cited Q & A discourse from Tattva Kaomudii part 1 was reprinted and published in Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell – 3, then the same mistake was carried over, i.e. that only one factor was needed to be a theist. Even though Baba clearly delivered a separate discourse in 1979 that describes in detail why all three factors are needed in order to be declared a theist.

So this is the very grave concern: That old publishing mistakes are carried over into new books. This is not an isolated circumstance. There are innumerable examples where the same publishing errors are printed over and over again.
