Distortion in AV3, Ch-20: Contradiction
Namaskár,
Please pay attention to the following two quotes from Ánanda Vacanámrtam part 3, Chapter 20, page 96.
Please see one quote highlighted in yellow and one in green. These quotes are from the same page (page 96) in our AM book, but, unfortunately, the yellow quote contradicts the green quote.
Yellow is Correct, Green is False
QUOTE #1: Tiljala Publications Printed in AV-3, Ch-20, p.96: “Similarly, in the field of consonants, the first one is “ka”. Why is “ka” the first consonant? Because “ka” is the acoustic root of objectivated Brahma, or Kárya Brahma, the effected form of creation.” [1]
That concludes the yellow quote; it says that the letter “ka” is the acoustic root of Kárya Brahma, Objectivated Brahma.
Now see the green quote below. It is from the very same para as the yellow quote, but unfortunately contradicts it completely. It says the letter “ka” is the acoustic root of Kárańa Brahma, Causal Brahma.
So remember-- in the above yellow quote it says that “ka” is the acoustic root of Kárya Brahma, Objectivated Brahma. And the green quote says just the opposite-- that “ka” is the acoustic root of Kárańa Brahma, Causal Brahma. Please read below.
QUOTE #2: Tiljala Publications Printed in AV-3, Ch-20, p.96: “The sound of creation is “a”, and the first sound emanating from that created being is “ka”; that’s why “ka” is the first consonant, Kárańa Brahma.” [Causal Brahma] [2]
So in the above two quotes you have seen that the yellow and green contradict each other. In the yellow quote it says that the letter “ka” is the sound of Objectivated Brahma. And in the green it says that letter “ka” is the sound of Causal Brahma. That’s why they are contradictory. Because objectivated Brahma and Causal Brahma are not the same thing.
Correct: “ka” is the Sound of Kárya Brahma
Seeing the number of words affected it may appear small, but according to Ánanda Márga philosophy it is a serious blunder. According to Bábá’s correct teaching, ka is the sound of Kárya Brahma.
Again, remember-- in the yellow quote it says that “ka” is the sound of Objectivated Brahma. And the green quote says just the opposite-- that “ka” is the sound of Causal Brahma.
Please see below a scan of the actual distorted text from the book AV part 3, Ch 20, p.96. The distorted section is colored in the same yellow and green as seen above:
Conclusion
Every margii knows that Lord Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji never speaks anything that is contradictory.
Bear in mind, our Ánanda Márga books are sold openly in the public market; when Non-Márgiis read this blunder they will not have great respect for Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji. That is unfortunate.
Namaskar,
at His lotus feet,
Mamata Basu
Note 1: The two worst things to ruin a book
Here is the worst thing anyone can do to any chapter or book:
#1: Spoil that chapter or book by making it self-contradictory;
#2: Due to sloppiness such a contradiction arises in the text, readers will think the writer does not know the subject matter.
These fatal flaws in our Ánanda Márga literature are the direct result of the sloppiness and carelessness of Tiljla publications Dept. They are inexcusable. By these blunders, they have ruined the status of Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtiji.
Purity of Bábá’s teachings is vital
Verily, to change words in the publication of a discourse, alters the meaning and misguides readers. Táraka Brahma has given pristine, clear teachings. Mis-transcription leading to self-contradiction in the text, and double translation with resultant distortion-- both of these open the door to misinterpretation and dogma.
Bábá says,
"In the spiritual world, there should not be anything which will divert human beings from the path of synthesis to that of analysis, which will provoke divisive tendencies and restrict collective existence within narrow confines.”
“Nothing should ensnare people in the illusory net of pettiness in any sphere of life, from the general code of spiritual conduct to the universal and eternal principles of life – lest the voracious fangs of the all-consuming Máyá devour them. Thus the scriptures containing spiritual injunctions must be totally flawless.” (3)
